THE ARC

From stress, through resilience, toward flourishing.

Each day is intentionally designed to integrate evidence-based learning with experiential application — mornings in neuroscience and psychological theory, afternoons in ecopsychology and direct encounter with the living landscape.

4 Frameworks

PERMA

Seligman's five pillars of positive psychology: Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment.

Resilience

Rick Hanson's model of Calm, Strength, Balance, and Contentment as core inner resources.

RISE

Resiliency training developed at Kripalu, applied in high-pressure contexts including UN-associated programs.

Nature-Informed

The CNIT model — nature as co-facilitator in healing, regulation, and meaning-making.

Five days, one arc, one landscape as teacher.

A progression from understanding stress as adaptive, through awareness of our patterns, into centeredness, solo integration, and finally the practical architecture of a flourishing life.

Day 1

Stress, Survival, & Reframing the Narrative

Explore the neurobiology of stress, cognitive appraisal, and trauma-informed perspectives. Learn to understand stress not as failure, but as adaptation. The desert landscape becomes a lens for resilience, conservation, and survival

Day 2

Riding the Wave: Understanding Personal Patterns

Using ACT-informed principles, participants examine reactivity, avoidance, psychological flexibility, and values. Nature supports slowing down, noticing early signs of dysregulation, and returning to center.

Day 3

Centeredness: Calm, Clarity, & Connection

Drawing from MBCT and Attention Restoration Theory, participants explore rumination, attention fatigue, and present-moment awareness. Outdoor practices help restore attention and create space between thought and awareness.

Day 4

Solo Integration: Relationship with Self & Nature

This experiential day invites participants into structured solo time in nature with reflective prompts, sensory awareness practices, and journaling. The day concludes with guided integration and meaning-making.

Day 5

Strengths, Meaning, & Flourishing

Participants integrate the week through the PERMA model, strengths-based reflection, and a personalized resilience plan. The training closes with attention to ethics, scope of practice, and long-term application.
