About the Role:

The Community Engagement Manager is responsible for fostering strong relationships with our Venture Trail members, coordinating volunteer activities, and supporting the Executive Director with day-to-day tasks. This position ensures robust community engagement by managing our Venture Trail forum, overseeing graduate directory upkeep, assisting with social media engagement, and maintaining a seamless volunteer program. As part of a small but dynamic nonprofit team, the ideal candidate is highly organized, people-focused, and passionate about connecting others to CNIT’s mission.


Responsibilities


Venture Trail Community Management

  • Engage with members on the Venture Trail forum, an online community of nature-informed practitioners: respond to inquiries, facilitate discussions, and ensure questions are addressed promptly.

  • Track member activity and feedback, identifying ways to enhance the Venture Trail experience.

Training Graduate Directory & Engagement

  • Maintain a current and accurate directory of training graduates.

  • Drive graduate engagement through periodic updates, newsletters, annual excellence awards, or alumni events.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers for various CNIT programs and events.

  • Serve as the point of contact for all volunteer inquiries; ensure volunteers are supported and recognized for their contributions.

Executive Director Support

  • Provide in-person assistance to the Executive Director (e.g., event setup, administrative tasks).

  • Coordinate with remote staff (e.g., CNIT Administrator) to ensure smoothcommunication and workflow.

Social Media & Community Outreach

  • Monitor and respond to social media comments, highlighting upcoming programs and success stories.

  • Collaborate with Program & Outreach Coordinator to develop

  • mini-campaigns or announcements that deepen community involvement.

Administrative & Data Support

  • Work with staff to input, track, and report participant data from events or trainings.

  • Assist with maintaining up-to-date records for CEU certifications and evaluations, as needed.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit

  • management, social sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is required.

  • Previous experience in community engagement, volunteer coordination, or member-based organizations is a plus.


Skills & Attributes

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with diverse groups online and in person.

  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic online forum moderation.

  • Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., MS Office, Google Workspace).

  • Passion for mental health advocacy and nature-based wellness; personal interest in outdoor activities is beneficial.

  • Self-motivated, able to take initiative, and adapt to a fluid, evolving

  • environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Weekly Hours: 10-15 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours as funding and program needs grow.


Pay Rate: $20 per hour.


Flexible Scheduling: We offer hybrid and flexible working hours, allowing you to coordinate in-person support (Towson, Mayland) for the Executive Director alongside remote tasks. This arrangement helps you balance responsibilities while supporting CNIT’s dynamic needs.
